Chubby's Story

It all started with Grandma Chubby

Almost a decade ago, Errol White moved to Canada from the Cayman Islands in search of a better opportunity — and made Red Deer, Alberta his home.

One day he realized that nowhere in this city could you find real Jamaican food. Not one place that tasted like the one he grew up in. Errol enjoyed being in his grandmother's kitchen. Everybody called her Grandma Chubby. At a young age he'd watch her stand over the pots for hours, and somewhere in all that smoke and spice, Errol realized what Red Deer was missing.

He took what Grandma gave him. The recipes, the fire, the love that went into every plate — and he built the place this city had been missing.

That place is Chubby's.

Same jerk. Same spice. Same love that started in Grandma's kitchen all those years ago. Because Errol believes it with his whole heart: when you cook with real passion, the dream cooks itself.
